This command toggles SmartSlides between using standard line spacing in fields and using a more tightly packed line spacing. More precisely, turning this feature on and off will not by itself affect any fields. Rather it modifies the way the top six commands in the XTRA menu affect fields.
Normally each line of a text field is about 4/3 as high as the tallest possible character of the font assigned to that field. When the SQUEEZE LINES feature of SmartSlides is turned on, a checkmark appears beside it in the XTRA menu. Thereafter, using any of the top six commands in the EXTRA menu while this feature is turned on will cause the linespacing in the newly chosen font to be squeezed to just 3/3 of the height of the tallest possible character of that font. This makes it possible to get a bit more text into the same space, of course. But more important, it makes it possible to run oversize characters in one line right up against characters in the line above or below. This makes it possible to use special characters in the four Smart… fonts to create vertical lines and arrows as part of the text of a field. This means that scrolling fields can contain lengthy, even bent, arrows which will scroll with their text.
To turn this feature off, simply invoke the command again and the checkmark on the menu will go away.
